12-4-99 Saturday Hey, I found a great web site this weekend. I saw a commercial on TV with Whoopi Goldberg talking about sending online currency to use at many stores. It's basically a gift certificate that you can use at over 50 different stores like...
The site is Flooz.com. I think it's a great idea. I'm going to ask my friends and family to send me Flooz, that way they can send it instantly via email and not have to worry about shopping and I get to buy what I want. Nifty eh? Check out Flooz.com...
12-3-99 Friday Thank God It's Friday!!! Woohoo!! Last night an alert viewer, Mark Smith captured this Kodak moment... My contacts were bothering me and I was getting really tired so I put my head down on my keyboard. Actually I think I was banging my head against it. Ya like that imprint of the spacebar across my forehead?
Thanks Mark!
Here's today's gratuitous cam shot...
12-1-99 Wednesday Forgot to mention that the low carb/high protein diet has been working pretty well for me. I still eat carbs occasionally but most of the time I try to eat less. I rarely eat anything potatoey. I eat much less rice and I try never to eat pasta. I'll eat bread if it's a sandwich or a hamburger. I don't eat the crust on a pizza. So far I've lost about 3 pounds I think. It's been several weeks but the good thing is that I can maintain a low weight and that's been tough for me over the last few years. I'm pretty happy with my weight now. _______________________________ The KFMB segment aired yesterday and I've had a fewpeople email me saying they saw it. Hopefully Consumer Bob will be sending me a video so I can digitize it and put it on my site. I took a screen capture yesterday but didn't put it on my site. Here's yesterday's capture...
And here's today's capture. A slightly different angle. You lookin' at me?!
I'm trying to change my camera settings or something because it's gotten kinda blurry and there's a glare on my face constantly. It gets better in the afternoon though, as the sun moves and the lighting changes. ______________________________________ Bad news, my PC at home died yesterday. Ka-put. I think the power supply went out. DKSF said he might have an extra one. If not, it's off to Fry's I go. I also need to buy a couple of NIC cards since hopefully I'll be getting DSL next week. Keeping my fingers crossed... Did I mention I've been playing a lot of Starcraft lately? I think when I get DSL, I'll cam my games and people can heckle me as I'm playing. "No don't build that! Go attack that. You forgot to upgrade!" Hmm, maybe I'll try to get a screen shot of one of my games and put it up here. How geeky is THAT?! ______________________________________ So some of my furniture arrived on Monday but they screwed up and sent me the wrong footboard which didn't match the headboard on the bed so I sent the whole thing back. It's gonna take them 3 weeks to send me the right thing. And they called it a "Quickship"! Quickship my butt!! Actually the furniture looked better in the picture than in real life. The original set I saw in a different color looked better too. Instead of the natural wood though, I ordered the cherry oak wood but it doesn't look like a cherry wood, it's looks more brown. Well I guess you take your chances when you order off of the Net. ______________________________________ Don't know if anyone noticed or not but my website got up to 4 million hits this weekend. I almost missed it. I rarely ever look at my hitcount anymore but it just so happened that last Fri (I think it was Fri) I peeked at the hit counter and it was just a few hundred shy of 4 million hits so I knew I would hit it that day. Pretty cool. And I just "celebrated" the 3 year anniversary of my site on Nov 6. Hard to believe I've had this website up for 3 years now. I was such a different person back then. That's when I first put up most of my rants and stuff. I was seeing someone at the time and I think I had a different perspective. I didn't start writing in my journal until a year and a half ago. Wow, that's a long time to keep a running journal. Gee, looking back, I think about some of the things I wrote. The style in which I wrote it. I think in a way that's one thing that drew people to my site was the journal, being able to take a peak into someone else's life. My life hasn't been particularly interesting. I don't know why people seem to enjoy following it. Hmmm, what else? Well, it's the holidays. I actually really hate the holidays. For some reason I think I generally get depressed during this season. Maybe it's the weather. Some people love Christmas and all the stuff that goes along with it, but not me. Do I sound like a bah humbug? Oh well. This has been a rather long, rambley journal. Hmmm, wonder what the Y2K is gonna bring... 11-30-99 Tuesday Another media blurb... a reporter from KFMB in San Diego interviewed me for a news segment a few weeks ago and it'll be airing tonight at 5pm for anyone that's in San Diego. The reporter is Consumer Bob and he's got his own video cam too! Check him out at his BobCam... Or go visit the KFMB site, I'm not sure but they may have the news segment online soon.
11-29-99 Monday Ok, decided to take down that journal entry. Never really did go back and read it, just thought it would be better not to have it there. Things are going well. Work is super busy and I'm trying not to stress over that. I got to see Judy and Bryan this weekend, they were back from Portland for Thanksgiving. Today my bedroom furniture should arriving. Man that took forever. I ordered it from furniture.com and they said it was backordered or something. I want to get a new TV too. I'll probably get one of those Sony Wega TVs with the flat screen. The picture is super clear. Good news! Jim is coming back in mid December, YAY! We're hoping to go snowboarding up in Tahoe. Hmmm, neither of us has been snowboarding before so it'll be quite an experience. Ev game me some pictures from Judy's wedding so I thought I'd throw one up here in the journal. This is me and Kent walking down the "aisle" so to speak. Not a very clear picture though. Oh well.
