2-6-99 Saturday Well the BBC segment on Correspondent finally aired today. It was on about 7:30pm London Time. Thanks to all the people who sent me email notifying me that my segment did actually air. A special thanks to Rien for taping the segment and posting the transcript and a few pictures.
Here's a picture of me and Cynthia as we met for the first time after corresponding via email for several months. Part of the transcript: "Reporter: Lorraine works near San Francisco and she's become one of the world's most popular Web cam pioneers. Her Website has received some 3000000 visits." "Reporter: Among the women who watch Lorraine is Cynthia, who lives in nearby Auckland. She's build a close virtual relationship with Lorraine, but the two have never actually spoken. Just corresponded by email. (...) Today, at our request, as part of an experiment, Cynthia is travelling into San Francisco to meet Lorraine in person. (...)" You can read more from the transcript in Rien's Journal:
Unfortunately, from the few pictures I saw from Rien's taping I don't think the camera angles were very flattering. But I guess it's the content of the interview/segment that makes it "newsworthy". I look really pale and kinda chunky. I guess I'll have to wait until I get the tape to see how it turned out. Thanks to all for their support! Special thanks to David Presswell, Tom Brook and Cynthia L. for making it happen. 2-1-99 Monday Happy Monday! Is there such a thing as a happy Monday? I've added my site at two new webcam sites and they've got a lot of other great webcams listed there. All non-Adult sites meaning, no nudity. Thank goodness. Please take a look and see what you think:

Someone emailed me last week and said they saw my web site on the French news the other day. I've noticed a lot of people from France signing my Guestbook and I've gotten quite a few emails from French visitors. Another visitor wrote in my Guestbook: "I find you from one czech magazine INTERNET, which writes about your site as about nice example of homepage sites. " Hmmm, I've never heard of the magazine. I wonder if it's online too. My interview with the BBC is set to air this Saturday, February 6. A visitor writes: "here's the announcement from the BBC TV-pages : 7:15pm Correspondent In-depth reports from around the world. Jane Standley investigates the rising crime rate in South Africa from the perspective of those who are held responsible. Plus a rare report from Algeria, and Tom Brook explores the virtual reality world of the webcam - the latest craze sweeping America Ceefax, Nicam Digital Stereo" Hopefully it won't get bumped by something more "topical".
