8-23-98 Sunday The Power Lunch on Friday was great. First we thought Mimi wouldn't be able to make it because of work but she managed to squeeze us into her busy schedule. Yay Mimi! I feel like I'm so behind because Nels and Mare already wrote about it in their journals. We had Japanese food and listened to Nelson's hilarious "Date From Hell" stories. He's had some real winners there. Amazingly we didn't take any pictures. We thought about it for about 2 seconds and then said, "Nah". Maybe next time. Sorry no pics. ____________________________________ So Friday night a bunch of us went to Cha Cha Cha's for dinner. I love that place! We had to wait a whopping 2 hours to get seated but it was ok because we got toasted on sangria and munched on chips while we waited. The food was amazing. Two thumbs up for Cha Cha Cha's on Haight St. ____________________________________ The Big Event!! Check it out! AUGUST 26, 1998, 7PM At the Transmission Theater 314 11th St (corner of Folsom) J.-L. ____________________________________ I promised my buddy Dan Uyemura I'd pimp him out to all the young hunnies. So here he is. Ok Dan, don't say I never did nothin' for ya man.
I was a bad girl today. I was walking by the conference room today and I saw my manager's shoes on the floor. He has a tendency to walk around with his shoes off. The first thought that went through my mind was, "I must hide them." Most people would probably see them and think, "Oh look, my manager's shoes" and keep walking. But noooooo... So I went over and picked up the shoes and hid them behind a small garbage can across the room. It's a small room, I figured it would take him a couple of minutes to find them. I forgot about it until about an hour later I saw him padding around aimlessly with that "I'm looking for something" look. I saw him heading off towards the hallway and thought, cool, he'll find them in no time since they're in the same room where he left them. Then I heard him padding back. Doh! He went back to his desk and started working again. I figured maybe he wasn't looking for his shoes just yet. Then about half an hour later he took off again with that determined padding...pad pad pad pad He came back again, still barefoot. By now it was 6:30pm and I was starting to feel bad. But not bad enough to give him his shoes back! Finally I heard him get up and walk over to the other side of the cubes saying, "Ok, who took my shoes?" He came back around and went up to Fredlet and said, "Um, ok have you seen my shoes?" Of course I had told Fredlet what I had done but she didn't rat me out. I was staring straight at my monitor now and feeling kinda guilty. He came into my cube and I didn't turn around. I couldn't. If I turned around, I would have lost it. I would have busted out laughing... in a remorseful kind of way of course. But he didn't say a word just kept mumbling to anyone who would listen about his lost shoes. I pretended to ignore him. He went off to the other side of the cubes again. Silly guy, doesn't he know by now that THIS is the evil side? Fredlet, Matt and I, the original Trio of Terror? So as soon as he was out of site I got up and casually walked down the hallway and retrieved the shoes. I was going to fess up and give them back but just as he rounded the corner I stepped into my cube and stood there holding the shoes out of his view. He walked up to me and Fred and started bemoaning the loss of his shoes and I said something like, "If I were your shoes, where would I hide..." with an innocent, angelic look on my face. All the while holding onto the shoes but keeping them out of his view. Fred however seemed a bit indignant. "And why was I the first one you asked about taking your shoes?" Thankfully someone came up and took him off to a short meeting. I snuck over to his cube and dropped the shoes there and then Fredlet and I ran around the corner giggling our heads off. He came back and saw his shoes. "Ah, just where I left them. Ha ha!" Well I was glad he wasn't mad. I just mumbled something like, "Oh they're back." And went back to work. Well he still doesn't know. I know that at one point he did read my journal so if he reads this, I'm am totally busted. But then he'd have to fess up to being a secret BaddGrrl Fan and I doubt that will ever happen.
And no, I'm not really a prankster. I think I'm more of an "idea girl". I come up with the ideas and then try get other people to carry them out. Have I ever told you about the time at summer camp... oh well, another time maybe. I really didn't think those girls would cry like that... Stay tuned for more High Jinks with the BaddGrrl...
