10-13-2000 Friday 4:30pm If you look back in some of my journal entries, especially the early ones, you'll see I did a lot more reflecting, a lot more thinking. Then after a while I started to get really lazy and there were many lapses where I barely updated and if I did they were just very short entries. Another factor was that I got sick of hearing people's comments. Any time I'd write something personal or emotional all these hordes of people would throw in their 2 cents and they would be completely off base. Most of them seemed like they didn't even really bother to read the whole journal or just made up things in their own minds. And then something that I realized today while driving to work... I think my creative juices have just dried up. In the past it wasn't even an effort to write prolific, funny journal entries. They just kinda flowed out of my brain and out onto my keyboard. Now I can barely muster up enough energy to update regularly. Fact is, I don't even feel that funny in real life. Maybe I've just lost my sense of humor. Could that be it? ___________________________________________________________
10-11-2000 Wednesday 6:30pm "Lorraine, I was just wondering if you were in any way responsible, or perhaps the inspiration, for the new Tuesday night Fox Network series, "Dark Angel." I watched last night's episode and couldn't help but draw parallels between you and the gorgeous, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding, dark-haired star of the show Jessica Alba. I know that her descendants are Spanish and yours are Chinese, but beyond that the similarities are uncanny! Kevin" I'm flattered by Kevin's comments but I really doubt that I was the inspiration for this show. But it's neat that he would think I was. Is it because she rides the same motorcycle that I used to have? I first saw this show last week but only caught the second half of it so I was a little lost. But I thought it was pretty cool and I even went to the website to find out more info about it. Then this week they re-aired the two-hour premiere and I caught the whole show. Even watched the second half that I had already seen the week before. I told Dave Lau about it and he liked it too. The girl that plays the lead is really gorgeous. I watched the second show in the series last nite. It was good but not as good as the series premiere. It actually occurred to me today that there are many similarities between the series and a James Patterson book I read last month. It's called "When the Wind Blows". It's a lot different from his other novels but it was pretty interesting for the most part. The premise is that a lab has created these genetically engineered children that are stronger, faster, smarter than your average bear or human being. And they've had their genes or DNA or whatever spliced with non-humans. In James Patterson's novel it's birds, in Dark Angel, she says she has cat DNA. Another thing in common is that the main characters in both stories are named Max. And they escape from their respective labs/prisons. And they are searching for their brothers who are also superhuman. Lot of similarities eh? Anyway, the series premiere has intrigued me enough to put it on my weekly shows to watch. I was just tripped out by the fact that Kevin thought there were parallels between the Dark Angel and myself. Hey, I'm always up for a little butt-kicking. Hehe.
