Create Your Own Web Page

Download a FREE trial version of Macromedia's Dreamweaver Web Authoring Tool (version 1.2) and start creating your own Web Page today. This is a 30-day trial version.

Go to Macromedia's Dreamweaver site to download the FREE software.

If your ISP does not offer Web Site hosting, you can get free space for your personal web site at:

After downloading and installing Dreamweaver 1.2, there is an on-line tutorial that will guide you through creating your web page.

Free Long Distance Calling (sort of)

If you and the party you wish to call both have:

1. A computer with a sound card and speakers

2. A connection to the Web (may not work if you are behind a firewall) then you are half-way there to having long distance calls for FREE.

All you need now is to:

1. Each buy a microphone. You can get one for less than $10 US dollars at any computer store. Fryes, CompUsa, RadioShack

2. Download Microsoft NetMeeting (FREE!)

After you have installed NetMeeting on your respective computers and dialed in to your respective ISPs, then connect to one of the NetMeeting Directory Servers and find each other. Then "Call" the other person through NetMeeting and once you're connected, start talking! You're not paying any long distance toll charges since you're both dialed in to your local ISPs.

Video Conferencing

Then you can even take it to the next level by setting up a digital video camera to your computer and have "video phone calls". I have this set up at home. I can talk to anyone in the world and they can see me through my digital camera and it appears as streaming "live" video, not just choppy images updating every few seconds.

If one or both parties is lacking in audio or visual, that's ok too. You can still type to each other in Chat mode.

Free Web Communications Center - ICQ

If you already have ICQ then you can skip this section. For those of you that haven't heard of ICQ, I believe that everyone with an Internet connection will eventually sign on for an ICQ account. It is currently the world's largest communications network and is growing every day.

What is ICQ?

It's free software that lets Web users chat and send instant messages to each other. You can locate other users, transfer files and set up your own Personal Communications Center.
